Opium

Opium is the most exclusive of the super clubs that line the beach front down at the Port Olimpic and is one of the most well known clubs in the city.  Even as you walk in through the glamourous entrance you know you are entering a venue of VIP luxury. As with all the beach clubs you enter along the promenade above the beach and then walk down the stair to get to the dance floors below.  It is the largest of the beach clubs with a capacity of 3000 people which they seem to fill every night of the summer.

The club also attracts some of the biggest celebrities in the city such as Barcelona football players who come to unwind and party after (usually) winning each weekend at the Nuo Camp. This is due to the big VIP area which spans around the dance floor. You can come and mingle with these superstars here as bottle service starts around 350 euros for bottles of vodka, rum and whiskey. If you do the maths and there are 10 of you that is less than three drinks at the bar each so it is well worth it!

Some of the biggest DJs in the world play here adding to what is already and incredible night. The atmosphere in the club when a big name is headlining is second to non though do make sure you book your tickets in advance as they sell out quickly! This summer the biggest artist they are featuring is Tiesto who is coming on Wednesday 1st of August for his 3rd time at Opium. In the past acts have included Avicii (RIP) David Guetta, Nicky Romero and Axwell to name but a few.

The resident DJs of Opium are both up and coming and well established DJs and producers who play the hottest tracks of the summer to an eclectic mix of both holidaymakers, students and locals. These guys such as Frank Caro, Danny Cardenas and Alemany have not only played and workd with some of the biggest names in music they have also travelled the world performing to hundreds and thousands of ravers.

Unlike a lot of clubs that put the DJ far away from clients, Opium knows that having them right next to the dance floor is the best way to ignite the crowd. There is nothing like a DJ jumping up and down behind the decks while you are less than a few feet away going crazy with them!

The clubs opens at midnight but don’t bother going there until around 1.30am or you will be very lonely in there! Generally it gets busy after 2am and they close at 6am and being right on the beach you can head down to the sand and grab a beer from one of the beer sellers and kick back on the sand with a cold one while watching the sun rise over the Mediterranean and chat about the night that is gone but is still not over!
